Here are the directions for a CHADD membership in our "scholarship" category. |
(To apply for a student/hardship rate of $35, just close this window to return and choose the student / hardship button. You don't need to make a special request for that. You are on the honor system.) |
It is very important to us to be able to help you out, because many folks with ADHD do find themselves in tough financial situations.
It surely goes without saying that this membership category is really for folks for whom the $45 membership would be a hardship, and even $35 would be prohibitive. We have only a limited amount of scholarship money available, and we don't have any huge donors or government agencies to fill in the gaps. We are a non-profit, managed by volunteers, and we feel stretched pretty thin too!
So, assuming that this option still applies to you, we do very much want to make CHADD available to you.
After reading this form, close it and click on the option for your membership level which is titled "Scholarship" The amount will be between $5 and $34. Whatever amount that you think that you can pay is enough. Then also send an e-mail with just two sentences explaining why you need a scholarship. Go ahead and finish the payment process. If for some reason we cannot aprove your request, you will get a quick refund.
Membership Support may also be negotriated through the Matt Cohen Membership Support Fund at CHADD's National offices. You can contact them at 800-233-4050, or download the application form to apply.

You do not need to wait until you have received confirmation of your membership before asking for the Professional Resource service. After you have submitted your form, send questions using our inquiries form. State:
We also have several resources that cost nothing! In terms of Professional Resources, we list a number of free or very low fee options. There are also Medi-Cal and Medicare options listed. Visit http://www.chaddnorcal.org/PRL/lowfee.htm
Another very important resource are our support groups. Most support groups and educational meetings are free with membership or $5 without. However, nobody is turned away for not having the $5. Do not underestimate what a great resource this is. You should consider a group even if you do not "have a diagnosis yet" since you will get a lot of information that can help you with that process. It will also give you a really strong sense of what CHADD is about and what we can offer you in general. Find the appropriate group for you at http://www.chaddnorcal.org/calendar/
