CHADD improves the lives of people affected by |
Sonoma County
It is with a certain sense of sorrow, as well as pride for a job well done for many many years, that Sonoma County CHADD announces that its last scheduled meeting was on Wednesday, August 27th, 2003 in Santa Rosa.
Since 1992, Sonoma County CHADD has brought speakers such as author Daniel Amen, MD, and local child development physician Catherine Ross, MD to share their knowledge and expertise. We have held workshops that brought in medical experts from major research hospitals, and worked with child advocacy attorneys to help parents make their way through the confusing requirements of special education law. Our meetings have been a way for parents and adults to share information, recommend medical practitioners, and just find other people who understand what they're going through.
Why was this the last? Meetings were averaging five or fewer attendees. No volunteers to help. We're burned out.
Please continue to visit the national website for the latest information on treatments, education, advocacy, and updates on the law pertaining to disabilities: www.chadd.org
Visit our chapter website for information on meetings taking place in other counties, as well as workshops and seminars, and articles of interest. While you are there, sign up for the email newsletters: www.chaddnorcal.org There is also a new branch forming in Napa, so check the website for details as they come in.
If you aren't already a member of CHADD, please join now. The magazine and other information you will receive is well worth the membership.
Special thanks to Doug Miller, who carried the load of coordinator long beyond the time that others would have faltered. Thanks to Sonia Nuss, who has been a long time volunteer, a tireless worker, and an inspiration to every parent she meets. To the volunteers who have contributed their time and, often, their resources, over the years, we will never forget you. Jeannette
